Arete Corporation has been managing venture capital funds focused on the needs and interests of the electric and gas utility industries since 1983. As manager of the Micro-Generation Technology Fund, formed in 1997 and completed in 2008, Arete provides equity capital to entrepreneurial companies that are developing and introducing to the market micro-generation technologies and related systems. The five Utech Funds addressed ventures related to the needs and interests of the electric and gas utility industries. Arete's most recent SC Green Tech Ventures, LLC, was completed at the end of 2009 and focuses on investments in alternative energy.
