Atrium provides an outsourced venture capital business model tailored to the needs and objectives of each of its corporate partners. Atrium's corporate partners are able to make private equity investments (maintaining proximity to the portfolio companies for strategic purposes) while outsourcing the venture capital skills (deal flow, due diligence, negotiation, structure) to the professional venture capitalists at Atrium. Atrium also manages its own independent venture fund, Atrium Venture Partners, LP, which co-invests with Atrium's corporate partners. Most of Atrium's investments are aimed at technology companies that are post seed stage, with an attractive business model, and a commercially available product or service on which the company is generating revenues. Currently, Atrium has formal partnership arrangements with Honda Motor Co., Ltd., Kensington Computer Products Group and R.R. Donnelley & Sons Company. Atrium specializes in industries experiencing technology transformation that overlap Atrium's core expertise, including energy technology, advanced materials, transportation, information technology and wireless communications. Collectively, the team has decades of early-stage technology investing experience and hands-on operating experience.
