Bantam Group is the investment vehicle for Joe Caruso, a well established Boston technology veteran and Angel investor. Bantam invests in emerging companies, primarily in areas of technology, and the firm seeks situations where its active involvement can play a key role in building the company. Bantam will consider unproven technologies, where definition of strategy is critical to success, and will invest in troubled situations. The firm will invest alone and with affiliates, with transactions ranging from $10,000 to several million dollars. Target industries include: Software, Web services, Materials/semiconductor, Energy, Security, Analytical Instrumentation, Business services, Life Science, and retail/consumer. Most of Bantam's investments are near greater Boston. Joe Caruso is a member of CommonAngels and eCoast Angels, and was previously a principal in Walnut Ventures and a Managing Partner of Brookwood Partners (see profiles). He also maintains an active consulting practice dealing with the structuring and negotiation of acquisitions, strategic partnerships and financings, and issues related to dispute resolution.
