Mid Atlantic Bio Angels group (MABA) is an angel investor group focused exclusively on new and emerging life science companies. Membership in MABA is by invitation only, and is extended to active, accredited investors (life science angels) who wish to make investments in life science companies, as well as institutional investors and life science company venture arms wishing to invest alongside the angels. MABA places no geographical restrictions or requirements for presenting companies and invests primarily in pharmaceuticals, health devices, and health apps. Entrepreneurs can apply to pitch to MABA, and some of the 60 members may invest together to create a funding round of up to $500,000. MABA is not a fund and its members invest as individuals or as a group -- at their discretion, or as arranged with the company receiving the investment. The Steering Committee (SC) consists of approximately 12-15 individuals who are already members and who devote additional time to shaping the vision of the organization, as well as the process of selecting and (to a limited extent) coaching of presentation candidates.
