    Description:

The University of Michigan promotes the creation of start-up ventures as a valuable tech transfer option to promote technological growth and its benefits to the market. Serving the University of Michigan community of innovators on all 3 campuses, including U-M Ann Arbor, U-M Dearborn, and U-M Flint, U-M Tech Transfer is responsible for commercializing research discoveries and reports to the U-M Office of Research. Since 2001, U-M Tech Transfer has assisted in the creation of 126 new start-up ventures, with $210.9 million in royalties and equity sales. To further enhance capabilities to create new ventures, U-M Tech Transfer has created the Venture Center. The Venture Center (VC) provides the 'front door' into the University for entrepreneurs and venture partners interested in start-up venture opportunities with U-M technology. The Venture Center includes a core staff of venture creation professionals, a team of mentors-in-residence and other specialists to model, develop and help launch U-M startups. The University offers a program called MINTS, Michigan Invests in New Technology Startups, that, with our recommendation and a qualified venture fund partner, will invest up to $1 million in Round A funding in qualified U-M startups. Over $1 billion has been invested in U-M startups since 2000.
