Since joining the University of St. Thomas in 2001, the Norris Institute has: Invested in 47 new ventures, 23 of them founded by UST alumni; Invested a total of $4 million in seed capital, leading to over $58 million in additional capital for portfolio companies; Re-invested more than $875,000 from returns on investment; and Seven current portfolio companies have an estimated ROI over 300 percent. The Institute fund is a revolving investment program that provides equity investments and convertible note loans of up to $75,000, with deferred payback terms and warrants. In 2008, the Norris Institute established the James Rogers Fox M.D. Fund for Healthcare Innovation, which expands the Norris Institute's ability to provide seed capital for emerging healthcare technology companies.
