Founded in 2005, BankCap Partners is a U.S. based private equity firm targeting the commercial banking sector. BankCap's principal investment strategy is to identify outstanding management teams in attractive markets and then in partnership with those teams, invest in and facilitate the development of midsize banks that have strong local sponsorship and significant amounts of capital (usually greater than $100 million in total capital). BankCap typically invests between $10 and $40 million per investment and is willing to be classified as a bank holding company for its investments. According to published reports, the partners are raising up to $200 million for the inaugural fund, and already have secured $109.5 million in capital commitments.
