Founded in 1999, Core Capital is a venture capital firm managing $300 million under management across three funds. The firm provides capital to early and growth stage companies developing or incorporating disruptive, 'core' technologies in high-growth technology sectors. Core's initial investments are typically in the $250k to $2 million range, with an expectation of $1-$4 million in total capital over the life of the investment. The firm has a particular interest in emerging opportunities in: infrastructure, enterprise software, SAAS, cybersecurity, cloud, and data analytics arenas. Core does not invest in biotechnology/life sciences/drug discovery, real estate, professional services, food & beverage, bankruptcies or turnarounds. Principally, Core invests in companies based on the East Coast, and in the Washington, D.C. metropolitan area in particular, but considers opportunities nationwide.
