Fountain Healthcare Partners is a spin-out group from Elan Corporation's (NYSE:ELN) New York-based corporate venture capital group. While at Elan, the team invested in over 25 life science companies, developing the next generation of products and technologies to address unmet medical needs. Fountain Healthcare Partners I fund is the largest dedicated life science venture capital fund in Ireland. The fund had a first close at 75M Euro in April 2008. Fountain's main office is in Dublin, Ireland, with a second office in New York. Specific areas of interest to Fountain are: specialty pharma, medical devices, biotechnology and diagnostics. The firm will deploy the majority of its capital in Europe with a strong focus on Ireland. Fountain will invest in private companies at all stages of development with an emphasis on companies with experienced management teams seeking capital to fund product development activities, with potential for a strong exit within 4 to 6 years. Fountain aims to build a portfolio of 10 to 15 life science companies, allocating between 10M and 15M Euro per company over the life of the investment.
