Jumpstart is a group of angel investors seeking opportunities to fund startup ventures. The group was formed in November 2002, and since then, Jumpstart investments have totaled over $20 million across 25 companies. Jumpstart provides a forum for angels and entrepreneurs in and around New Jersey to connect with each other. All Jumpstart angels are required to make an investment every year. However, each angel makes individual decisions on whether and how much to invest in a particular venture. Jumpstart focuses primarily on: Communications, Information Technology, Materials, Electronics, Advanced Manufacturing, Energy, Environmental Engineering and Life Sciences. Jumpstart normally invests from $200,000 up to $1,000,000, in promising companies in and around New Jersey, but may syndicate a deal with other angel groups to raise up to $2 million. JumpStart members prefer to invest in companies that are generating revenues and with pre-money valuations typically under $10MM.
