Description:

Kenilworth is the family office for Peter Lunder, a nephew of Harold Alfond. In 1993, Warren Buffett bought Harold Alfond's Dexter Shoe Company for $433 million, paying in Berkshire Hathaway stock. Harold Alfond donated millions of dollars to universities and hospitals across the state of Maine before he died in 2007. Alfond left the bulk of his fortune (now valued at nearly $5 billion) to his children -- Bill, Susan and Ted; as well as his nephew Peter Lunder. According to the Boston Globe, the Lunders (Peter and wife Paula) assembled one of the nation's largest and most valuable collections of American art. Appraised at $100 million, the Lunder portfolio comprises 500 works by American masters including O'Keeffe, John Singer Sargent, Winslow Homer, Sol LeWitt, and Edward Hopper. The Lunders donated the art collection to Colby College in 2007. Mr. Lunder sits on the Colby College Museum of Art Board of Governors and chaired the Acquisition Committee. He is a former vice chairman and national board member of the Smithsonian Institution and commissioner emeritus of the Smithsonian American Art Museum, where the Lunders provided the lead challenge gift for the Lunder Conservation Center.
