A funding initiative of the Knight Foundation, the Knight Enterprise Fund provides early-stage venture funding for media innovation. Launched in 2010, the Knight Enterprise Fund serves as a co-investor in its portfolio companies, investing $25,000 -500,000 and helping to fill out early investment rounds with experienced angel and venture capital funders. An initiative of Knight Foundation, the Enterprise Fund promotes portfolio companies across Knight's large network of media, educational and non-profit partners. As of June 30, 2018, the foundation had invested $830 million with firms that are substantially or majority-owned by women or minorities, representing 36 percent of its endowment.
