While location is not a restriction, many of the companies Moneta funds are headquartered in underserved markets on the U.S. West Coast. The funds are used by these companies for growth and occasionally for partial founder/owner liquidation. Moneta Ventures focuses highly differentiated companies that are facing hurdles to scalability, aiming to invest between $500,000 and $2 Million per investment. Moneta's funded companies will typically have annual revenues between $500,000 and $10 million at the time of investment though the firm has invested in companies with lower revenues. A small portion of the fund is also used for funding companies that help grow healthcare service practices in the Greater Sacramento region.
