Penn Venture Partners, LP is a New Markets Venture Capital Fund, approved by the U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA), and focused upon growth and expansion stage venture capital investment within certain underserved markets located in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania. Penn Venture Partners seeks long-term capital appreciation primarily through growth and expansion stage venture capital investments in companies located within Central and Northern Pennsylvania. Each initial investment is expected to range from $500,000 to $1,250,000, depending upon the needs of the particular company. The total investment in any particular portfolio company, including follow-on financing as the portfolio company achieves its goals, will generally not exceed $2,000,000. Eighty percent of portfolio companies must initially satisfy the SBA-required size limitation for smaller businesses. These general limitations are a net worth no greater than $6 million and, for each of the prior two years, annual profit after tax must not exceed $2 million. The overall portfolio objective is a diversified portfolio of companies whose industries may broadly include: Agribusiness, Energy and Environmental Technology, Alternative Energy, Marketing and Distribution, Basic Manufacturing, Materials Technology, Biotechnology and the Life Sciences, Networking Systems, Computer Hardware and Software, Powdered Metals, e-Business Infrastructure and Interactive Media, Telecommunication Technology, Education Products and Services, Publishing, and Business Services.
