Founded 2008, Steelhead Capital Management (SCM) is a Family Office based in Fort Worth, TX. Leslie W. Kreis, Jr. is the Managing Principal at Steelhead Capital Management, which manages a portfolio of small business investments and start-up ventures. Steelhead partners with management teams to build businesses through organic growth, strategic acquisitions, and operational improvements. SCM invests in early seed opportunities as well as later stage growth companies, with a primary focus on technology, energy, pharmaceuticals and consumer packaged goods. Mr. Kreis is also a founding member of Cowtown Angels, a Fort Worth-based angel investment network. Kreis is currently a managing partner of Bios Partners (see profile), a life sciences focused venture capital firm. Prior to this, Mr. Kreis was a Vice President at HBK Investments, a multi-strategy global hedge fund based in Dallas, TX. During his 11-year tenure with the firm, he managed a $3 billion global portfolio composed of stocks, bonds and derivatives products. Kreis' father was oilman Leslie W. Kreis, Sr,, who developed oilfield technologies: small, skid-mounted refineries to convert wellsite natural gas into methanol (Texas Methanol Corporation), the use of LIDAR (lasers) to detect oil and gas deposits (Laser Exploration, Inc), as well as downhole steam generation for tertiary recovery (K2 Technologies).
