United Airlines Ventures is a venture capital arm of United Airlines Holdings based in Chicago, Illinois. The firm prefers to make investments in the sustainability, aerospace, and technology sectors. United Airlines Ventures works with emerging companies from seed stage to growth stage. The venture programs seeks to help fund start-ups working to do things like decarbonize air travel, develop sustainable aviation fuel (SAF), build new planes more sustainably, and innovate through new technology. The Sustainable Flight Fund is a first-of-its-kind investment in Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF). SAF is an alternative to normal jet fuel with reduced lifecycle greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions. It's made from used cooking oil and agricultural waste. Starting with more than $100 million in investments from United and our partners, the fund will support start-ups working on SAF research, production and technology.
