UpVentures is the investment vehicle for Marin Babinet, who founded outsourced HR firm, TriNet. Babinet remains active as a large shareholder and Director at TriNet, in addition to startup investing. Upstate NY is the primary geography for investments. However, the firm will make a smaller number of investments in NY metro and the San Francisco Bay Area. UpVentures typically invests in companies within the following industry segments: Tech enabled services (B2B or B2C); Enterprise software; Software as a Service (SaaS); Cyber Security; Electronic Gaming; Wearable technology and IoT; Unmanned Aerial Systems; Clean Tech; and Healthcare technology. For seed investments, UpVentures likes to see at least $25,000 MRR.
