VentureSouth is an association of angel groups and early stage investors located across the South. VentureSouth consists of the leading angel investor groups in South Carolina and Western North Carolina. These groups consist of over 300 individual angel investors and include The Upstate Carolina Angel Network, Capital Angels, Asheville Angels, VentureSouth Spartanburg, and more. Angel groups make investments in early-stage, high-growth potential companies. VentureSouth aims to invest $250,000 to $1,000,000 in companies seeking capital to launch or scale a market-ready product or service. The Upstate Carolina Angel Network is a Greenville-based network of more than 50 investors. Since its launch in 2008, it has invested $50 million in 80 companies. In 2014, UCAN was voted the 8th best angel group in the entire United States. Capital Angels was formed in 2014 in Columbia to serve the angels in the Midlands. A membership based network of over 30 of Columbia's most successful business leaders and entrepreneurs, Capital Angels began making its first investments in the summer of 2014. Asheville Angels is a joint venture between VentureSouth and Venture Asheville. Venture Asheville is the entrepreneurship initiative of the Economic Development Coalition for Asheville-Buncombe County and the Asheville Area Chamber of Commerce. Formed in 2014, the VentureSouth Angel Fund (previously called the Palmetto Angel 2014 Fund) invested its capital in high-growth Southeastern startups alongside VentureSouth's active group members.
