Virginia Active Angel Network (VAAN) is a TJ Capital Group professionally managed, membership-only network of accredited investors that meet in Charlottesville, Virginia and Blacksburg & Roanoke, Virginia. The group considers opportunities to provide funding and mentor capital to early and seed stage ventures primarily in the central and southern Virginia region, and the greater Mid-Atlantic region, including Maryland, Washington, DC, North Carolina and West Virginia. VAAN also syndicates opportunities with other Angel Capital Association angel groups. Started in 2005 by a group of University of Virginia alumni, and joined by New Vantage Group of McLean, Virginia, VAAN expanded to the Blacksburg and Roanoke area of Virginia with a kick-off dinner in October 2006.
