West Nonpublic Holdings is a San Diego-based investment firm, making direct investments in private companies. As part of the Gary and Mary West Family Office, the firm makes direct investments in private companies. In 1978, Gary and Mary West co-founded WATS Telemarketing in the garage of their house in Omaha, Nebraska. They sold WATS in 1980 and in 1986 they founded West TeleServices, which they took public in 1996. Established in 2006 by Gary and Mary West, the Gary and Mary West Foundation focuses on the needs of seniors. In 2009, Gary and Mary West created the nonpartisan, nonprofit Gary and Mary West Health Institute, which conducts applied medical research to generate the evidence needed for healthcare providers. The Wests own Thoroughbred racing horses Maximum Security, Game Winner, and New Year's Day.
